About
Built in Sheridan, Wyoming, for anyone holding a bill that doesn't add up.
I'm Dalton Goodyear. I started Ahem after watching my mom fight her medical bills with full insurance. Most of that fight was paperwork: matching the bill to the EOB, writing letters, remembering deadlines. Ahem does that part so people can spend their energy on the calls that matter.
Why “Ahem”? It's the small sound you make before you say, “Excuse me, that charge is wrong.” Polite. Calm. Impossible to ignore. Most people never make it: on HealthCare.gov plans, fewer than 1 in 100 denied claims get appealed. Ahem makes it easy to speak up, on paper, on time. And the dot in our logo is a stone, for the one David needed.
Ahem reads a bill and an Explanation of Benefits, flags what to question using plain, visible rules, drafts letters you review and sign, and tracks every deadline. You stay in charge. Nothing is sent without you.
How we write and check our guides
- Every rule, deadline and number links to a primary source: federal regulations, CMS, the IRS, the CFPB, or published research.
- Every guide shows the date it was last fact-checked. When a rule changes, we update the guide and the date.
- No paid placements and no ad trackers. Our tools are free to use without an account.
- We say "generally" when a rule has exceptions, and we tell you where to check your own plan.
- Corrections: email daltongoodyear@wyostays.com. We fix confirmed errors and note the date.
